Elective Declawing

As part of our commitment to progressive, evidence-based veterinary care, NVA has aligned on a clear position regarding elective feline declawing. We oppose and prohibit elective feline declawing across our practices. The procedure is considered inhumane except in medical circumstances where amputation is necessary to treat disease or injury. Instead, we recommend pet parent education and non-surgical alternatives to manage scratching behavior.
